Police Officer Pay Progression
The city of Desloge has a step program with percentage increases based on longevity by 3-year percentage increase. In addition, pay is subject to annual COLA raises that are annually approved by the Board of Alderman.

Employees accrue 40 hours of vacation after their first year of employment. After 2 years, it doubles to 80 hours of vacation per year. At 5 years, employees receive 96 hours of annual vacation. At 10 years, 120 hours, at 20 years, 160 hours; at 30 years, 200 hours; and caps 240 hours of vacation annual after 40 years of service.
Sick Leave
All full-time employees accrue sick leave benefits at the rate of eight (8) hours for each calendar month of continuous employment. An employee may not accumulate more than twenty-four (24) days, one hundred ninety-two (192) hours of sick leave until the completion of their second year of continuous full-time employment. The employee may accumulate up to sixty (60) days, four hundred and eighty (480) hours, following their fifth year of continuous full-time employment.
Personal Leave
Each full-time employee is granted two (2) days of personal leave with pay annually following the completion of their first year of employment with the City of Desloge.

Group Life Insurance
Basic Life and AD&D insurance are provided at no cost to you. You are automatically covered at $25,000 for each benefit. Dependent Life and AD&D insurance are provided at no cost to you for your spouse and children up to age 26. Your spouse is automatically covered in $5,000 and your children six months to age 26 are covered in $5,000. Children from birth to less than six months are covered in $1,000.

Group Short-Term Disability (Employer Paid)
Short Term Disability coverage pays a percentage of your weekly salary if you are temporarily disabled and unable to work due to an illness, pregnancy or non-work related injury. STD benefits are not payable if the disability is due to a job-related injury or illness. If a medical condition is job-related, it is considered Workers’ Compensation, not STD.
This coverage is provided at no cost to you.

If you do not elect Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance when first eligible or if you want to increase your benefit amount at a later date, you may need to show proof of good health. When you’re initially eligible, you can enroll in up to $80,000 of coverage for yourself and $10,000 for your spouse without providing proof of good health. At Open Enrollment next year, you can increase your benefit by two increments without proof of good health. Enrolled children up to 6 months are covered for $1,000. Once they reach 6 months, their coverage increased to $10,000.

Requirements For ALL Positions
- Must be at least 21 years of of age
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a 470 hour Missouri P.O.S.T. certification or class "B" license or higher
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
- Must be willing to work shift work
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Must pass a background check suitable for law enforcement work
- Must pass a drug test
- Must pass a physical exam
